AISM Represented at World Conference for Gifted Education

Australian International School Malaysia (AISM)’s Director of Curriculum and Innovation, Kylie Booker, is a highly regarded specialist in the rapidly evolving field of gifted education. She has over 25 years teaching experience and leads the Gifted & Talented program at AISM, supporting the teachers to provide opportunities for the students to reach their potential.

Recently, Kylie was invited to present at the 22nd World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) Biennial World Conference in Sydney, Australia. The event was hosted by UNSW School of Education, a world-leader in pioneering and innovative work in gifted education. The four-day event brought together more than 600 participants from around the world to discuss, exchange, and debate ideas in gifted education.

Kylie has previously presented at several gifted conferences in New Orleans, Warwick and Vancouver and has served as the Australian delegate to the World Council for Gifted Students.

Kylie’s conference presentation featured a narrative journey of a profoundly gifted student in mainstream schooling. The presentation explored the student’s story to produce new knowledge to enhance how teachers engage with profoundly gifted children in education. This research is due to be published later in 2017 as part of Kylie’s completion of her Doctorate Study in Leadership and Management at Flinders University, Australia.

Currently Kylie is exploring the national gender gap in STEM education in Australia and looking at how and if this translates into our international context.
