The recent World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions was held in Yale University USA in November 2018. AISM students Yuin Yie Wong, Megan Yap and Emily Tan qualified after battling through the regional and global rounds. They were amongst 3,000 scholars from around the world that made the journey to Yale. Similar to the earlier rounds, participants took part in the Scholars Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Debate and the Scholars Bowl.

All the events took place inside the halls at Yale University, around the different colleges on the campus. Collectively, AISM students brought home a total of 10 individual gold medals and 6 individual silver medals. The team had also won Gold in Collaborative Writing and Silver in the Challenge event.

The students had the opportunity to interact with and learn directly from Yale students and faculty, where they attended a special panel on college life and on how to leverage the World Scholar’s Cup experience as part of their admissions portfolio. The whole experience was invaluable and they came home knowing what it’s like to be a student at one of the world’s greatest universities.

AISM encourages students to explore, excel and extend their learning, both in and out of the classroom. The World Scholar’s Cup is one of the annual competitions the school participates in to help extend student learning and make connections between their learning and the real world.
