Bett, the world’s leading education technology event has announced its Bett Asia Leadership Summit and Expo to be held for the first time in Malaysia. Supported by the Ministry of Education, the Bett Asia Leadership Summit and Expo will be held on 15 and 16 November 2016 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

In 2016, Bett Asia expects to host as many as 1,400 attendees and 60 exhibitors from around the globe including education leaders, senior policy makers and educators alongside the most prominent players in the education technology industry. Events such as the Bett Asia Leadership Summit and Expo support Malaysia’s ongoing Government Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme and complement the drive towards enhancing the country’s competitive edge in a globalized society.

Tan Sri Dr. Madinah Mohamad, Secretary-General, Ministry of Education, a major supporter of this year’s event in Kuala Lumpur said, "The Bett Asia Leadership Summit and Expo in Kuala Lumpur represents an important opportunity for this region to enhance the quality of education systems."

The Bett Asia Leadership Summit will feature discussions and debates on the key opportunities for the region’s education systems across K-12, Higher Education and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Expo will provide a platform for exhibitors to demonstrate innovative solutions while connecting with delegates and sharing the latest trends in education technology from around the world, with a focus on Asia.

H.E. Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, shares her thoughts on the upcoming Bett Asia Leadership Summit Expo

This year’s theme ‘Educating for Global Citizenship’ will feature topics and sessions on how the sector can develop education systems to prepare students for careers in an interconnected world, and the role technology plays in achieving this. “We are proud to be bringing Bett Asia to Malaysia, following two successful editions in Singapore. Malaysia has a clear commitment to educational excellence, inspired by its vision to become a high income nation by 2020. In bringing a forum where Asia’s education experts, decision and policy-makers can share their own learnings and successes, we hope we can meaningfully contribute to achieving these important goals.” said Eve Harper, Event Director Bett Asia, i2i Events.

The third edition of this event in an Asian city aims to build on the success of the Bett Asia Leadership Summit held in Singapore since 2014. Last November, 120 speakers and delegates from more than 40 countries converged for one of the region’s most important events of its kind. Bett Asia is also aligned with the Education is GREAT Campaign, which marks a significant year for British trade links, with Malaysia identified as the hub for promoting its education in the ASEAN region.

H.E. Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, British High Commissioner to Malaysia said "BETT Asia Leadership Summit in Malaysia augurs well with our Education is GREAT campaign which was launched in Malaysia earlier this year and will be rolled out to the wider ASEAN region. It is also timely as the Ninth ASEAN Education Ministers meeting, chaired by Malaysia this year, has agreed to adopt the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2016-2020. Education will continue to be a key theme for the UK’s engagement with Malaysia and ASEAN. The UK is pleased to be part of that and eager to be a partner of choice in the delivery of education across the region.”
