The recent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Showcase held at the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) was a great way of demonstrating how their students are actively engaging with science, mathematics and technology in a fun and innovative way.  Students from Years 6 to 10 spent weeks preparing for the much-awaited event, where they had the opportunity to speak on a variety of projects and experiments to parents, teachers and Junior School students.

Held at the corridors of the Middle and Senior School Classrooms, the atmosphere was abuzz with excitement as Junior School students were in awe of the various structures and projects on display. Some of the experimental investigations discussed how heat and sound waves transfer, topics such as energy efficiency, transfer and transformation, environmental awareness campaigns which focus on renewable energies, and promotions of scientific and technological evidence which contribute to managing the impact of natural events, to name a few. There were also displays of Design and Technology projects and portfolios from across the semester, coding animation and gaming development through Information and Software Technologies. Other activities included a Mathematics Breakout room which stimulated the audience with logic puzzles and hands-on tasks.

Mr Simon Matheson, Head of Science and Technology at the School, said that many had commented on the enthusiasm and quality of knowledge of the presenting students, which is encouraging for the future of AISM achievements internally and externally.
