Marlborough College Malaysia recently celebrated diversity by honouring women artists from around the world. Year 6 students collaborated with visiting artist Dayan Pitty to create a striking large-scale mural entitled ‘Women in Art’.
The mural compliments the annual Master’s Art Competition, the second one of its kind, which this year focused on the theme of ‘Cultural Fusion’. The competition encouraged pupils from all years to merge different artistic techniques with their personal cultural experiences, resulting in unique and thought-provoking pieces. By exploring diverse perspectives and global connections, the competition aimed to highlight the importance of our interconnected world.
The College recently held an exhibition of all entries which allowed everyone to view the impressive artwork on display. Mrs Turner, Head of Senior School Art, said, "Art serves as a powerful source of connection, inspiration, and understanding. It can bridge divides, foster empathy, and remind us of the beauty and complexity of life. I’d like to thank all the artists who participated for your courage in sharing your visions with us. Your work inspires us to think deeply, to feel profoundly, and to appreciate the rich tapestry of humanity.”
