Organised by the Middle Years Art teacher Tracey Purkis, the educational trip assisted students to complete their task entitled ‘In the Jungle’, giving them the opportunity to take photos of different plants species and draw freehand sketches of nature. Photographs taken from the trip will be used as their reference for their next school task.

"Art trips such as the Tasek Lama trip allowed the young artistes of Year 8 to explore ideas outside of the classroom. They use the wonderful natural environment to inspire their creation of paintings and other artwork," Purkis said.

Students were also accompanied by other teachers from the Art faculty including the Pastoral Director of Senior School, Richard Bourbon.

JIS Principal Nicholas Sheehan added, "As a school, we are tremendously fortunate to have so many opportunities here in Brunei for our young students to learn and develop an interest in art and nature outside of the classroom."
