Sri Utama School Kuala Lumpur opened a newly built state-of-the-art Boarding Facility in August 2014. The Boarding Facility caters for students from Form 1 to Form 5 and is conveniently located just a five-minute drive from the school compound. It is located within a secure gated development. Boarding students are under the supervision of two qualified and experienced Boarding House Masters as well as team of qualified Academic Tutors.

Students within the Sri Utama boarding environment will develop confidence and independence. They will also develop teamwork and leadership skills through completing daily tasks with their boarding peers. Students will develop close friendships, and will have the opportunity to mix with students from a range of countries and backgrounds. Students will also participate in after-school activities, as well as in organised educational and fun trips around Kuala Lumpur on scheduled days throughout the year. All boarders will be guided by rules and policies designed to ensure that students maintain good behavior and discipline in a safe and welcoming environment. Boarding house staff will ensure these rules and policies will be strictly adhered to. Registration is now open. Interested parties are encouraged to register early as spaces are limited.

Types of Boarding

Full Boarding is available from Form 1 to Form 5 students for students in Sekolah Sri Utama and Utama International School. Students stay at the boarding house for the duration of the term: 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for public holidays, school holidays, and long weekends.

Boarding House Staff

The Boarding House Master maintains responsibility for ensuring the daily operation of the Boarding House. He/ she is responsible for the pastoral care of each boy or girl, acting in the role of a parent for all Boarding House Students. The Boarding House Master will oversee the assigned tutors in their function, as well as be the point of contact for parents regarding their children. The Boarding House Master is trained and accredited in First Aid.

The Boarding House Tutor plays an important part in each student’s academic progress, as they monitor and assist students during scheduled homework sessions. The tutors will also be the point of contact for subject/class teachers, as they will review the Student Communication book daily.

Facilities

The Boarding House has a kitchenette which is equipped with a microwave and refrigerator for boarders to prepare snacks.
The common area/homeroom is where boarders spend most of their free time, meet for daily assemblies, and eat meals while they are at the boarding house. It is equipped with comfortable couches, TV with Astro connection, and a dining area. The boarding house is also equipped with a high speed WI-FI internet connection.
Boarding accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Students share a room with four other students. Each room has an adjoining bathroom.
A laundry service is employed to pick up and deliver laundry twice a week to the boarding house.
