Describe yourself in three words.
Responsible, Dependable and Efficient
What are your favourite subjects and why?
I personally like Geography because I am always curious on how nature is changing itself and also how we, humans, affect the environment both negatively and positively. I also like add math, even though I’m not the best at it; because I like learning and challenging myself. I find add math challenging because most formulas are those that I have never encountered in my previous years before. However, this encourages me to study the subject more and take the time to learn it.
What kinds of extracurricular activities do you do and why?
I have been a part of Student Council for almost 5 years now. I think the reason why I’m able to stay in the Student Council for this long is because I enjoy the responsibility that comes with it. I enjoy making new friends from different year groups, leading school events and learning how to effectively communicate with everyone in school (including teachers, staff and even the Principal). I’m also included in the Netball team and competed with many International and National Schools here in Johor.
What opportunities has your school given you that you would not have had otherwise?
In 2018, I was given the opportunity to visit the University of Reading here in Johor, as a reward for winning the book week competition. It made me experience university life for a day and I became aware of what and how different students use different techniques to adapt to their heavy study schedules. To be given the opportunity to serve the school and contribute to its success through the Student Council, from 2017 until now. Through this, I was able to participate in charitable activities and help the community outside my school.
Student Council Events I co-organised: Valentine’s Day (2019-2020), Study Survival 101 (2021), Movember Week (2017-2021), Donation Drive (2019), Kindness Week (2019), Beach Clean-up Day (2019)
School Activities:
• International Day 2019 (MC)
• Assembly MC (2018-2020)
• Assisting and Guiding Parents around the school during Open Day
• Pop Band performances
• Netball Competition (Johor School competitions and competitions between International Schools)
I was able to participate in many events as an MC in front of students, teachers, as well as parents. I was also able to showcase my acting skills through the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Drama where I played a major role. I never imagined myself memorizing lots of lines and expressing a different character’s feelings in front of many people. Being able to engage in these responsibilities made me grow as a leader.
