Come to the 2nd Annual Inter-School Poetry Slam Competition on 25 September!

You are invited to attend the 2^nd Inter-School Poetry Slam Competition that will be held on Thursday, 25 September 2014 from 7pm to 9.30pm at Sunway International School (SIS).

 

As the winner of the first Annual Inter-School Poetry Slam in 2013, SIS will be hosting this year’s competition and it is expected to be bigger and bolder. A group of students between 13 and 17 years of age from seven international schools in the Klang Valley will read their original works of poetry. While most children today are engrossed and fascinated with technology and social media, these students keep themselves occupied by crafting poetry. Poetry recitals of today take the form of poetry slam, which is gaining popularity amongst the youths and schoolchildren. It is the public reading of one’s original work and the purpose is mainly to showcase the art of poetry, prose and delivery, in a form of competition.

 

This year, SIS is excited to welcome Guest Poet, Malaysian National Laureate Datuk Dr A. Samad Said for the evening, alongside other literary and distinguished figures such as Mr. Chin San Sooi, founder-member of Five Arts Centre; Mr. Jamal Raslan, spoken word poet and educator; Mr. Az Samad, composer and educator; Mr. Lim Soon Heng, Producer-Presenter of BFM; and Dr. Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway Education Group serving as judges.
