At Spectrum International School, we embrace the future of education by fostering global connections, digital collaboration, and real-world learning experiences. This March, our Year 10 Computer Science students embarked on a transformative international exchange with Al Haraki School, Indonesia, as part of the Google Reference Schools Exchange.

This three-day virtual program, held from March 4th to 7th, 2025, combined AI innovation, cultural exchange, and hands-on coding, providing students with a unique opportunity to develop global citizenship, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Our collaboration with Al Haraki School was designed to:

✅ Develop AI & Coding Skills – Introducing students to AI-powered applications.
✅ Enhance Creativity & Problem-Solving – Fostering innovation through teamwork.
✅ Create a Fun & Engaging Learning Experience – Bringing AI and technology to life in an exciting way!

This exchange was more than just an online event—it was a stepping stone towards digital fluency, international collaboration, and future-ready learning.

 


 

The 3-Day Learning Adventure 

📅 Day 1: Cultural Exchange & Global Friendships

🌍 Icebreakers & Introductions – Fun facts, school life & traditions
💬 Student Presentations – Sharing Ramadan traditions & cultural insights
🎥 Virtual School Tours – Exploring daily life in Malaysian & Indonesian schools
🤝 Student Pairing – Each student was matched with a partner from the other school for direct interaction

🎯 Key Takeaway: Building meaningful global connections while celebrating diversity.

📅 Day 2: Coding the Talkbot – AI in Action 🤖

 

🖥 Guided Coding Session: Students participated in Google’s "Code a Joke-Telling Talkbot" activity
👩‍💻 Hands-on Collaboration: Pairs worked together to design and personalize their chatbots
🏆 Mini-Competition: A fun and interactive chatbot showcase

🎟️ Exclusive Access: Spectrum students used the code n624t5 to join the coding session.

🎯 Key Takeaway: AI can be fun, creative, and engaging when students apply it to real-world scenarios.

📅 Day 3: AI for Good – Innovation Challenge

💡 Challenge: "How can AI make learning more fun?"
🔬 Project-Based Learning: Teams brainstormed and designed AI-powered ideas such as a quiz bot, virtual study buddy, and storytelling assistant.
🎤 Final Presentations: Students pitched their AI solutions in a virtual demo session.
🎉 Interactive Quiz: A friendly AI & cultural knowledge competition moderated by Ms. Farah (Spectrum) and Ms. Nisa (Al Haraki).

🎯 Key Takeaway: Students explored AI's potential in education, turning ideas into practical solutions.
