SEVEN SKIES 2ND INTER-SCHOOL QURAN MEMORIZATION COMPETITION: ANOTHER SUCCESS IN NURTURING LOVE FOR THE QURAN AMONG STUDENTS

SATURDAY, 25TH FEBRUARY 2023, SELANGOR – The Islamic Department of Seven Skies International School held their Second Inter-School Quran Memorization Competition with the aim of promoting Quranic love and knowledge among students and fostering unity between schools. 

 

The competition brought together 95 students from 6 different schools namely; IHS Kota Damansara, Al-Hamra Integrated School, International Islamic School Gombak, Idrissi International School, Brainy Bunch Islamic School and also Seven Skies International School to compete in 5 different Quran memorization categories. The first category was from (Surah Al-Nas to Al-A’laa), the second category was from (Surah Al-Nas to An-Naba’) the third category was from (Surah Al-Nas to Al-Mulk), the fourth category was from (Surah Al-Nas to Mujadila) while the fifth category was from (Surah Al-Nas to Ad-Dhariyyat). 

 

The competition was judged by a panel of independent qualified judges who were experts in Quranic studies. They assessed the participants based on their recitation accuracy, fluency, memorization and overall performance. 

 

There were five winners announced on the day. The 1st place winner for Category 1  was Aalesha Imaan Binti Sharmi from Brainy Bunch, for Category 2 was Ibrahim Muhamad Imran, for Category 3 was Afsheen Zoha, Category 4 was Muqarrabin and Category 5 was Suhail Jamal Padhiyath, from Seven Skies International School. The winners brought home cash prizes, a rehal, a plaque and certificate of appreciation each. 


Ustadh Ahmad Kamaldeen, the Head of Islamic Department mentioned; “Memorizing the Quran is a fundamental act of worship that offers Muslims multiple benefits. These include safeguarding the teachings of the Quran, enhancing comprehension and reflection, as well as strengthening their faith in the Quran. Memorizing the Quran also builds a closer relationship with Allah, increases knowledge and understanding of its messages, and grants a practical way to access its teachings at any time and anywhere. Through this act of devotion, Muslims gain tremendous rewards in this world and hereafter, and ensure the preservation of the Quran’s teachings for future generations.”

While waiting for the preliminary rounds, the parents' waiting time was filled with a  panel session with an invited guest, Dr Athiyah Azmi who is a Neuro Linguistic Programming Coach & Practitioner, the Head Of Character Development Ms Rameesa and Ustadh Ahmad Kamaldeen, Head of Islamic Department from Seven Skies International School covering the topic “Fostering holistic development: balancing character excellence and academic excellence in Islamic education”. 

  

This event provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge of the Quran while also learning from their peers. Seven Skies International School is committed to promoting Quranic knowledge and Islamic values among its students. The school has a long-standing tradition of organizing events and programs that help students learn more about their religion and develop a strong understanding of the Quran. We thank all the students from the participating schools who took part in this exciting competition and showcased their Quranic knowledge. It was a beautiful celebration of the Quran and a great promotion of unity among schools. The students had a great opportunity to meet and interact with their peers from other schools, learn from each other, and appreciate the diversity of Quranic recitation styles.
