Celebration of Unity Day at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur

A memorable and successful celebration of Unity Day was organised by Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Wong Chee Kheon, the principal welcomed esteemed community guests – YB Senator Datuk Seri Prof. Dr. Awang Sariyan, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Tan Sri Johan Jaafar, and Tan Sri Dr. Syed Hamid Albar to participate in the event.  

Students left a lasting impression on the audience dressed in colourful cultural costumes with a dikir barat performance; armed with gong and kompang that was led by four main singers called tukang karut as one of the opening gambits.  

The event featured other cultural performances such as an angklung ensemble and traditional dances from Sabah and Sarawak. There was also a choral speaking performance while members from the National Culture and Arts Department amazed the audience with their dance.  

The celebration was organised with the intention of creating an inclusive culture within the school community. Students were able to develop respect, empathy, and tolerance towards individuals with various backgrounds.
