September 17 to 20, 2014 saw the annual Short and Sweet Festival Competition occur at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC). Amateurs and professionals who work in the performing arts across Malaysia came together for two months to perform their original plays, musicals, comedy routines and dances for the chance to win great prizes and public recognition for their creativity.
Starting in 2013, the category “SONG” was added for singers, songwriters and musicians who wish to release their original song compositions to the world. In that inaugural year, elc International School walked away with 2 awards – “Best Glitz and Glam” and “1st Runner Up” for best song.
In 2014, elc International School again entered student groups, and, like last year, faced by even tougher competition from the seasoned adult performers on show. The school’s young student musicians did not go home empty handed! 3 Trophies were bagged: “Best Glitz and Glam” for the band “The Moody Blaq Ducks” and “1st Runner Up” for the group, “The White Tigers”. The lead singer/songwriter/pianist for “The White Tigers”, Gaby Henry of Year 8, also walked away with the “Best Newcomer” trophy.
Congratulations to all the elc students involved – you have truly done the performing arts, yourselves, and your school, proud.
