Morning Routine
A typical day for me starts with the buzz of excitement as I arrive at school.
very day, we are greeted by our teachers, who fully welcome us to class, ensuring that both new students and those who have been at Maple Leaf Kingsley International School for a while always feel the warm embrace of the school family.
The first task on my agenda?
Once a week, we have the special 24 Festive Drums activity. This vibrant and rhythmic exercise isn’t just about fun; it’s designed to improve focus and warm us up for the day ahead.

First Lessons
With our minds and bodies warmed up, the first lessons of the day commence. Here, at Kingsley, student-led and student-centric lesson plans are embraced in each class. What does this mean?
The lessons are meticulously planned with purpose, ensuring it caters to our diverse needs. The Multiple Intelligence approach is central to how our teachers create the lessons, while interactive learning and engagement are at the heart of these sessions – this combination makes education a collaborative journey rather than a solitary and boring task.
Mid-Morning Break
Did you know?
According to a recent study, the best time to learn is between 10AM – 2PM. The brain is at its peak freshness to absorb information within this period. But, breaks are crucial as well.
After an hour or so of intense learning, we enjoy a healthy snack while socialising with our peers. This break isn’t just a pause in the academic schedule; it’s a chance for us to recharge, engage in physical activities, and build friendships that are crucial for our social development.
Late Morning Lessons
Post-break, the late morning lessons dive into holistic learning experiences. At Kingsley, education goes beyond academics. The integration of Multiple Intelligence approaches ensures that every child’s unique talents are nurtured. Whether it’s through music, art, or physical education, we are encouraged to explore and excel in various fields.

Lunch Time
Lunchtime at Kingsley is more than just a meal; it’s a time to foster healthy eating habits and chit-chat with friends! The school promotes nutritious lunches that fuel our bodies and minds. The menu features a variety of favourites, including local delights like nasi lemak and chicken curry, as well as continental meals such as pasta galore and a variety of kimchi recipes.
During this time, we also engage in meaningful conversations, strengthening our social skills and building a sense of community (Kingsley International School).
Post-Lunch Lessons
As the afternoon progresses, we return to our classrooms to continue with lessons. These sessions continue the focus on personalised education. Kingsley’s certified education approach ensures that each student’s learning style, socialisation needs, and long-term goals are considered, providing a tailored educational experience.
Whether you’re a visual, auditory, kinaesthetic or verbal learner, the different styles of learning have helped us recognise our individual style.
Afternoon Break
Another short break follows the post-lunch lessons. This time is for relaxation and re-energising. The benefits of breaks in learning are immense, giving us time to absorb information while helping us to stay focused and engaged throughout the day.
Late Afternoon Activities
The later part of the afternoon is dedicated to extracurricular activities (ECA). From clubs to special interest groups, we have the opportunity to pursue our passions and discover new interests. Whether it’s the drama club, a science group, or a sports team, there’s something for everyone at Kingsley.
Depending on the chosen club of interest, we are encouraged to adhere to or create our own schedule. This has helped us students a lot with time management from such an early age. Not only that, our activities are designed to ensure students get all the range of movement, especially after a full meal. Active movement such as dancing, singing, running and jumping helps to keep the students awake and fresh for continued learning!
Afternoon Lessons
The final academic sessions of the day take place in the late afternoon. These lessons are designed to consolidate the day’s learning and prepare us for the next day’s activities. It’s a crucial time for reviewing concepts and addressing any doubts we might have.
Outdoor Time
Outdoor time is one of the best parts of my day because it’s about more than just playing outside. It’s about learning beyond the classroom walls. We do everything from playing sports to exploring nature, which helps us stay active and appreciate the world around us.
For example, we might study Science or geography by going on nature walks or doing experiments outside. This hands-on approach makes learning more fun and helps us understand things better.
Today, outdoor time is about numbers. It’s where we get to put what we learn in class into practice.
End of the School Day
As the school day draws to a close, we recap the day’s lessons and prepare for the next day. This reflection time helps in reinforcing what we’ve learned and sets a positive tone for continuous improvement.
