Alice Smith School’s record breaking A Level results are amongst the best in the region and on a par with leading schools in the UK. This year the school celebrates an outstanding increase in A*-A grades at 56% and a record breaking number of A* at 24%.
At (I)GCSE, this year is the first year of combined letter and number grades, with students sitting the new and more challenging examinations in six subjects (Art, Digital Photography, Music, PE, Maths and Computer Science). 22% of entries were awarded Grade 9, the new highest attainable grade (A**) with almost 50% of students achieving 8 or more A*/A (9-7) grades.
These achievements reflect the very high standards and expectations for teaching and learning and the calibre and ability of the student body. The school invest considerable time in supporting and preparing students for their transition to higher education and have close links with reputable universities for placements. The majority of graduating students receive first choice placements in excellent universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and UCL. Russell Group universities feature strongly in the placements for the vast majority of graduates who choose the UK as their higher education destination. There are also students attending universities in many other countries worldwide, including Ireland, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Holland, Malaysia and Canada.
As a not-for-profit educational foundation, the school will be offering scholarships for students to pursue the A Level programme, starting from January 2019.
