Imagine your child discovering a place where they are inspired to explore who they are and supported in nurturing their passions, both inside and outside the classroom.
As one of Malaysia’s leading international schools, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) embraces a holistic approach to education, focusing on nurturing the person rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. Recognizing that every child learns differently, ISKL’s mission is to cultivate passions, values, and competencies that will inspire learners to shape their path as global citizens.
Situated on a sprawling 25-acre campus in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, ISKL's state-of-the-art campus offers a world-class learning environment where students can discover their passions and shape their futures as global citizens. Here, every student, family member, and employee is a Panther — together forming a supportive and diverse community.
Since opening its doors in 1965, ISKL has witnessed significant changes, from its humble beginnings in Jalan Maxwell to today's picturesque campus in Ampang Hilir, with a stunning view of the city skyline. Through every chapter of its history, one thing has remained constant: the sense of community and belonging that makes ISKL home of the Panthers.
This feeling has resonated with generations of students. ISKL alumni Rika S. (‘24) captured it beautifully during graduation: “This place will always greet us with love, with sunshine, and with life. It will always say, welcome home.”
That same sense of belonging was echoed by this year's graduation speaker, Zhi Hong C. (’26):
"In the next few years, we are going to hit a few walls, and we are going to make a few mistakes. But if our time together has taught us anything, it is that we already know how to navigate the mess. We are going to continue to rely on each other as a community, and we're going to continue to remember the home where it all began."
ISKL’s holistic educational offerings include the world-renowned IB Diploma programme and the innovative PRAXIS and Pursuits programs. From Early Childhood through Grade 12, ISKL instills values such as self-directedness, creative thinking, critical reasoning, and effective communication—essential life skills that are integral to its learning principles and culture.
Visiting a school is an essential step for parents to understand how their family can fit into the community and how their children can thrive. Christina Decu, ISKL's Director of Enrollment Management, emphasizes the importance of experiencing the school community and environment firsthand. She notes, "It is important for parents to visit a school and get a feel for how your family could be part of the community and how your children can grow to be their best selves. We encourage families to take the time to come and visit us if they can, meet as many members of our community as possible, and experience ISKL in person. Here, we don't just enroll students—we enroll families."
That sense of belonging is something many ISKL families experience firsthand. Parent May Lynn L. shares, "ISKL truly feels like our second home. Over the years, our family has learned and grown together through the school's strong academic foundation, sports, music, arts, and many educational opportunities."
ISKL will hold its Open Day this September, providing families with the opportunity to ask and explore the ISKL approach in preparing their children for the future. This event offers a chance to tour the state-of-the-art ISKL campus, hear from the Head of School, Mr. Rami Madani, and engage with key community members, including Student Admissions Representatives (STARs), Divisional Principals, and parents during a Q&A session.
