Find Yourself At ISKL As The Next Pathways Scholar!

Inside the Schools

There is a Malay proverb, "Serumpun bak serai, sesusun bak sireh," that shares a common sentiment with the old Irish expression, "There is no strength without unity." Both adages emphasize the importance of unity and collaboration as essential components for success.

This principle aligns with The International School of Kuala Lumpur's (ISKL) core belief in the power of collective efficacy to nurture the global citizens of tomorrow. In line with this, ISKL is committed to making opportunities accessible to talented Malaysian Form 3 leavers by offering the ISKL Pathways Scholarship, which empowers them to make a difference in the world.

The ISKL Pathways Scholarship: An Overview

As one of Malaysia's leading international schools, ISKL understands the importance of a holistic approach to education. The merit and need-based scholarship aims to nurture international-mindedness in students by providing them with the tools to help unlock their potential.

The scholarship is equivalent to a four-year study in the High School Program, from Grade 9 to Grade 12 (14 - 17 years old). Recipients of the Pathways Scholarship benefit from the flexibility of ISKL's innovative high school study pathways, which include the option to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Grades 11 and 12.

A Journey of Growth: From Discovery to Graduation

The beauty of the Pathways Scholarship lies in the continuity of the experience. Whether a student is just beginning their High School chapter or preparing to walk across the graduation stage, the sentiment remains the same: ISKL is a place where potential meets purpose.

For our scholars currently in Grade 10, the experience is defined by the expansion of their horizons. Aly A. reflects on her start, noting, “ISKL and its multitude of opportunities reeled me in. I knew that my experience here would develop me into a person capable of pursuing my biggest dreams.”

This sense of exploration is echoed by Amirthen S., who blend strategic thinking in the Chess Club with the physical resilience of Track and Field. These experiences exemplify ISKL’s commitment to fostering both academic excellence and personal growth.

The Full Circle: Reflections from the Class of 2026

While Aly and Amirthen are carving their paths, Pretyba K. and Soraya S. are both graduating this year, representing the culmination of the four-year Pathways journey.

For Pretyba, the initial draw was the school’s reputation for excellence: '“The abundance of opportunities available at one of the best schools in Malaysia, if not the best was a significant factor in why I joined,” she reflects.

Soraya echoes this, noting that the academic rigor is matched only by the community’s heart: “ISKL is a place where the care and concern of the teachers and community overflows. I feel it is a place where I have grown both academically and as a person.”
