JIS Junior School lends helping hand to special needs students

Three primary schools and four students with special needs received equipment and learning resources in a handover ceremony at Mutiara Kasih Block of Lambak Kanan Jalan 49 Primary School.

The equipment and learning resources were presented by students from the Junior School of Jerudong International School (JIS).

The guest of honour, Acting Head of Special Education Unit (SEU) at the Ministry of Education Dr Mona Aliana binti Dato Paduka Haji Alimin witnessed the ceremony.

Head of JIS Junior School Paul Bannister as well as teachers, officers from SEU and the students and their parents and guardians were present.

The Junior School of JIS earlier held its annual fundraising week to raise money for students with special needs.

Over the course of a week, the students raised BND9,000 through several activities including ‘Coin Drop’, ‘Cake Sale’, ‘Teddy Bear Drop’, ‘Messy Day’, ‘Guess The Number Of Sweets In A Jar’ and ‘Dollar A Job’ for chores carried out at home.

The students acquired equipment and learning resources to aid students with special needs in their learning and mobility.

The handover ceremony shows the continuous collaborative efforts between Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education and Junior School of JIS.
