On 23 May 2026, Sunway International School Kuala Lumpur welcomed parents to an exclusive Expert Talk Series held in partnership with Magdalen College School, Oxford. The event explored two topics at the forefront of education today: how students can stand out in increasingly competitive university admissions, and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the future of learning.

The afternoon began with welcome remarks by Professor Cheng Mien Wee, Executive Director of Sunway International Schools, followed by a presentation from Helen Pike, Master of Magdalen College School, Oxford, who shared insights into what leading universities look for beyond academic results. She highlighted the importance of developing a distinctive student profile through intellectual curiosity, meaningful experiences, and sustained personal growth, rather than focusing solely on grades.

The second session was led by Dr Richard Saldanha, Governor, Magdalen College School, Oxford, who provided an accessible introduction to AI and its growing impact on education. He discussed how students can use AI tools responsibly to deepen understanding, strengthen critical thinking, and enhance learning outcomes.

A key message throughout the event was that success in today's world requires more than academic achievement alone.
