His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam consented to grace the Year 8 drama performance at the Jerudong International School (JIS) Arts Centre Auditorium yesterday.

Their Majesties were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh in her capacity as Deputy Chairman of JIS Board of Directors; Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad and member of the JIS Board of Directors.

JIS Principal Nicholas Sheehan and Head of Senior School Anthony Piper also welcomed Their Majesties.

Participating in the year-group performance was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel who joined 161 students in their production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The production of a good drama was created through students exploring and developing ideas.

Performing one of William Shakespeare’s famous plays which takes place on a ship at sea during a tempest, and on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero lives with his daughter Miranda holds important lesson in life.

The drama production was part of JIS curriculum aimed at empowering students with the skill of performance, teamwork and communication.
