In today’s fast-paced digital world, developing a genuine love for reading and the ability to think critically matters more than ever. Just as important is the ability to express those thoughts clearly in Bahasa Melayu, our national language and a key pillar in the Ministry of Education’s vision for holistic student development.
The Wesley Methodist School’s Pertandingan Resensi Buku (Book Review Competition) brought together students from eight schools in a vibrant showcase of ideas, confidence, and communication. More than an academic exercise, the competition challenged students to analyse, interpret, and present their insights thoughtfully in Bahasa Melayu, strengthening both language mastery and depth of thinking.

The result was impressive. Students demonstrated clarity, maturity, and the confidence to articulate their perspectives with purpose. It was evident that they were not just reading but truly engaging with what they read.
The competition celebrated excellence across multiple categories:
- Primary Champion: Thirrshane A/L Marutamuthu Sankar, Wesley Methodist School Bandar Seri Coalfields (Private)
- Lower Secondary Champion: Au Yon Xu Zhe, Wesley Methodist School Klang (Private)
- Upper Secondary Champion: Julia Serah Jeremiah, Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (Private)

These achievements highlight the strength of the Methodist education system in nurturing confident communicators from an early age.
Beyond the competition, this initiative reflects a larger commitment to develop students who are not only academically strong, but also articulate, reflective, and grounded in their identity. By strengthening literacy in Bahasa Melayu alongside critical thinking, Wesley Methodist School continue to prepare students to thrive, both locally and globally.
