The International School @ ParkCity’s Secondary Students Bring “Hairspray” to Life

Move over Broadway as the International School @ ParkCity (ISP) Secondary students put their own unique, memorable spin on the hit musical “Hairspray”, bringing the show to life with their energetic and entertaining musical romp in two outstanding performances. The audience were transported back through time to the colorful 1960’s in the city of Baltimore, where change was in the air and revolution around the corner. Our loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy “Mei” Turnblad, with a passion for dancing wins a spot on the local TV dance program, The Corny Collins Show. Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity.  Watching the show it was easy to forget that the actors were not professionals, but a cast of incredibly talented ISP Secondary students. Passion and heart, combined with the talent on show, ensured the standing ovations were thoroughly deserved at the end of both performances. As "You Can’t Stop the Beat" was belted out at the end of the show it was clear that ISP is the place where the beat is strong!
