KTJ - Where Opportunity Meets Belonging

When parents choose a school, they are making one of the most important decisions they will ever make for their child. Academic results matter. Opportunities matter. Facilities matter. But beyond all of these lies a more fundamental question: Will my child be happy, supported and able to thrive?
At KTJ, we believe young people achieve their very best when they feel they belong. That sense of belonging sits at the heart of everything we do. We are ambitious for every student, but ambition flourishes when children feel known, valued and confident enough to challenge themselves. Our goal is simple: to help every student become the very best version of themselves.
Academic excellence remains central to that mission. We know that success is built over time through strong relationships, expert teaching, and high expectations. Behind every outstanding examination result is a student whose teachers know them well, understand their strengths and challenges, and are committed to helping them succeed. As a result, 37% of our A Level grades were awarded at A*, while 65% achieved A* to A and 87% achieved A* to B.
A key factor in these outcomes is our commitment to continually improving teaching and learning. Through our Professional Learning Communities, teachers collaborate on evidence-informed research projects, share best practice and refine their approaches to ensure every lesson provides the greatest possible opportunity for success. This culture of professional curiosity and continuous improvement benefits students from EYFS through to Sixth Form.
Our curriculum is designed to provide both breadth and depth. In Key Stage 3, students are encouraged to explore a wide range of subjects and experiences before making decisions about future specialisation. We recognise that thirteen-year-olds are not expected to have their entire future mapped out. Sometimes a scientist discovers a passion for Drama. Sometimes a talented performer develops a love of Geography. Providing students with the confidence to explore, make mistakes and discover new strengths is an important part of preparing them for their future.
One of the clearest examples of this philosophy can be found in the Performing Arts. Students benefit from specialist drama spaces, dance facilities, music rehearsal rooms and our impressive 600-seat auditorium, but the facilities are only part of the story. Every year, students participate in ambitious productions, concerts and performances that challenge them to develop confidence, discipline, and creativity.
One of the great joys of school life is watching a nervous child pick up a cello for the first time in Primary and grow into a confident performer in the school orchestra a few years later. Others discover a love of dance, find their voice on stage or develop technical skills behind the scenes. The performances themselves are memorable, but the confidence, resilience and self-belief developed along the way are even more valuable.
What excites us most is that these opportunities are increasingly becoming genuine pathways for students who wish to pursue their passions at a higher level. Supported by former industry professionals and specialists with experience at university and professional levels, students can access high-quality training while maintaining academic rigour. With the introduction of BTEC Performing Arts and exciting partnerships with leading institutions, students can pursue world-class opportunities while benefiting from a broad and balanced education.
Sport plays a similarly important role in developing young people. Situated within our beautiful 80-acre campus, students enjoy access to outstanding facilities and training environments. However, our ambition extends well beyond participation and competition. Through high-performance coaching, strength and conditioning, sports psychology and leadership opportunities, students learn how to perform under pressure, cope with setbacks and respond positively to challenges. These qualities help students succeed not only in sport, but throughout their lives.
As an international school, we are proud of the diversity of our community. Students join KTJ from around the world, bringing different experiences, perspectives and cultures to our campus. Visitors often notice the diversity, but what strikes them most is the sense of community that exists across it. Students quickly become part of a school where differences are celebrated and every individual is valued.
This is particularly important for students who are joining a new country, a new school or learning through English for the first time. Our EAL provision ensures that language is never a barrier to success. Through specialist support integrated into mainstream learning, students continue to access a full academic curriculum while developing their English. The transformation can be remarkable. Students who arrive with little confidence in speaking English often go on to participate fully in lessons, perform in school productions, represent the school in competitions and become leaders within our community. Their success is a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people feel supported and genuinely believe they belong.
For many international students, boarding is an important part of that journey. More than simply accommodation, our boarding houses provide a genuine home away from home. Students build friendships, develop independence and become fully immersed in the life of the school. For overseas families, boarding provides reassurance, support and community. For families living closer to campus, it offers the opportunity to make the most of our extensive facilities, evening activities and vibrant co-curricular programme throughout the week. Many families appreciate that students can enjoy the best of both worlds: the independence and opportunities of boarding during the week while still returning home at weekends. In fact, persuading them to leave their friends and come home can sometimes be the real challenge.
40% of our Upper Sixth students achieved straight A*-A grades. Ultimately, what makes KTJ special is not simply our examination results, university destinations or facilities, impressive though they may be. It is the combination of opportunity, support and belonging that enables every student to thrive.
Parents often begin their search for a school by asking what their child will achieve. At KTJ, we believe an equally important question is who their child will become. If students leave us with excellent qualifications, meaningful friendships, confidence in their abilities and a genuine sense of belonging, then we will have fulfilled our purpose.
As we begin this new chapter, our ambition is not simply to provide outstanding opportunities, although we certainly will.
