World Scholar's Cup Malaysia Round, Penang, at POWIIS: POWIIS Emerges Junior Overall Champions

For the third consecutive year, POWIIS successfully organised the World Scholar's Cup Malaysia Round, Penang. The first of two Malaysian qualifying rounds in their annual calendar, the Malaysia Round Penang saw 376 young scholars from 20 secondary schools across Malaysia competing over the weekend of 26-27 March 2016 in four team events, namely debate, writing challenge, quiz challenge and quiz bowl, all based on an engaging theme:  AN IMPERFECT WORLD. On top of the competitive events, scholars and teachers also showcased their talents in a talentime contest while the 8 best debaters of the competition demonstrated their wisdom with words during the debate showcase.

The POWIIS team certainly represented the school with all their heart, emerging overall champions out of more than 50 junior teams for a second year in a row. The senior team earned a credible 8th place overall out of 70 teams in that category. What was noteworthy, however, is that every POWIIS team earned at least a silver medal for their achievements, something not achieved by almost all schools present. All in all, POWIIS attained 56 gold medals. Our key achievements for the 2016 World Scholar's Cup Malaysia Round Penang include:

Overall, the 2016 World Scholar's Cup Malaysia Round Penang was a resounding success for POWIIS and the achievements of the students are a reflection of their effort and dedication, as well as the quality of coaching they received through their consistent training.
