Sunway International School Kuala Lumpur (SISKL) recently welcomed prospective families to its Open Day, offering an immersive experience into its holistic and future-focused learning environment. The event brought together school leaders, students, parents, and academic teams, creating a vibrant platform for meaningful engagement and discovery.

The day began with an insightful session, “Getting to Know Sunway International Schools: Nurturing Minds, Building Character,” led by the principal – Mr Richard Cherry. The talk highlighted SISKL’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals, balancing academic excellence with strong values, character, and global perspectives.

This was followed by a focused academic sharing by Ms Christel, Mr Dan and Mr Jeff Elliott, who introduced the Canadian Curriculum and its seamless progression towards the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Parents gained a clearer understanding of how SISKL supports students through each stage of their academic journey, ensuring both depth of knowledge and readiness for higher education.

A key highlight of the Open Day was the experiential classroom sessions, where families stepped into the role of students. These interactive classes, accompanied by detailed content sharing, allowed parents and students to experience SISKL’s engaging and inquiry-driven teaching approach firsthand.

The collaboration between SISKL and Magdalen College School Oxford was another focal point of the event. Through a dedicated talk by Ms Tamarin and Ms Divya, attendees were introduced to the exclusive partnership and how it enriches the learning experience by embedding elements of an Oxford-inspired education into daily classroom practices.
Adding to the atmosphere was a delightful music performance by SISKL’s Canadian High School students, showcasing both talent and the school’s emphasis on creative expression. Beyond the classrooms, various booths featuring Sunway business divisions, including Sunway Medical Centre, amongst others, provided families with a broader view of the ecosystem supporting student development.

The event also highlighted the strength of the SISKL community. Members of the Parent Council were present to share their experiences, while SIS House students conducted guided campus tours, including visits to the boarding facilities. Student-led tours further offered authentic insights into daily school life, allowing prospective families to connect with the student experience on a personal level.
Throughout the day, the Admissions and Academic teams were on hand to engage with parents, offering guidance on programme pathways, application processes, and scholarship opportunities. Separate talks by each school’s leadership also provided deeper insights into their academic offerings, culture, and history, while Heads of Programme and Coordinators shared detailed perspectives on curriculum structure and progression.

Overall, the SISKL Open Day was a dynamic and enriching experience reflecting the school’s dedication to nurturing confident, responsible, and future-ready learners within a supportive and inspiring community.
