The demand for international school education in Malaysia has shown no sign of slowing down! There are over 200 international schools across Malaysia and the number is expected to grow even more over the next few years.
Here are five new international schools in Malaysia that have recently opened their doors to students and some that will be opening in 2023.
1. Ardence International Secondary School
From Lower Secondary (Year 7) through Upper Secondary (Year 11), Ardence International Secondary School follows the UK Cambridge International Curriculum. By the time they complete their studies, students will have taken the IGCSE Cambridge Examinations, which are benchmarked against the internationally recognised UK curriculum and examination board certification, and open countless doors to postsecondary education across the globe.
Ardence International Secondary School is located in Shah Alam and will welcome its first class of students (Years 7 - 11) in January 2023.
2. KYS KL East International School
KYS KL East International School follows the Cambridge Primary as their primary syllabus integrated with the National syllabus (KSSR) subjects such as Bahasa Malaysia and Islamic Studies/Moral Studies to broaden their students’ academic potential. The school also offers a wide range of IGCSE subjects to ensure their curriculum directly meets the needs of the students in preparation for studies at universities overseas.
Located by the scenic Klang Gates Quartz Ridge, KYS KL East International School provides lessons in small class sizes with highly experienced teachers with ambitious mindsets.
3. Soka International School Malaysia (SISM)
SISM will be offering the Cambridge curriculum for lower and upper secondary school students from Year 7 to 11. Students will later take the IGCSE exams during Years 10 and 11 and will have the option of choosing between the International Baccalaureate programme and the Cambridge A levels. In addition, the school will be offering boarding facilities for their students.
The school is located in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and will welcome its first class of students in August 2023.
4. Stonyhurst International School Penang
Stonyhurst International School in Penang is a coeducational day school for students aged three to eighteen from all religious denominations and belief systems. The school is located near Straits Quay and is an extension of Stonyhurst College in the United Kingdom. In December 2022, Stonyhurst International School Penang opened their doors to students from Early Years to Year 13. Students in Years 10 – 11 will then sit for the IGCSE examination followed by the A level examination in Years 12-13.
5. Sunway International School
Sunway International School will welcome students from early years to pre-university to their new campus in Bandar Sunway in 2023. The school offers the Canadian (Ontario) Curriculum for kindergarten to high school level students and the IBDP to pre-university students.
6. Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School
Located in Petra Jaya, Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School opened their doors to Year 7 to 12 students who will follow the IGCSE curriculum. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) supervises and keeps an eye on the school to ensure that the school’s academic plans align with what the State desires. Additionally, the school provides boarding facilities to their students.
